SHABBAT CLUB HEBREW CLASS
Hebrew Reading & Language Program
The Shabbat Club After School Program now offers a second day of the week for Jewish engagement and learning!
This after school enrichment class is dedicated to Hebrew Reading & Language.
The Hebrew Reading & Language Curriculum follows a popular color coded Aleph Champ system where the children systematically learn to read Hebrew, going up in levels until they graduate the ‘’black level’’. There are a total of 10 levels to achieve reading fluency, modeled after the art of Karate. For more information on the approach, see https://alephchamp.com/about/
When children have completed all 10 levels, Hebrew language and text based study will be introduced.
Q&A
When will the lessons this take place?
On Tuesday afternoons from 4:45 - 5:30 PM, beginning January 2023.
Why such a short lesson?
Children cannot spend more than 45 minutes practicing to read and we want to keep the lesson short and exciting.
Hmm… It’s a little hard to drop off my child for just a 45 minute lesson
We understand that. Our lessons take place outdoors in the parklet, and the large airy preschool room which is adjacent to the parklet is open for parents and younger siblings. The preschool room has toys, tea and coffee, and WIFI that parents can use.
What is the cost?
We charge by session. Each session is four weeks long and costs $30.
When is the next session:
Tuesdays: Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31
Our February session will be finalized mid-January
Why four week sessions?
It takes a child 4-8 weeks to complete a level. This is based on a child’s age, motivation, in-born ability to learn a new language, and practicing they may do at home. Our sessions are set up in 4 week sessions, and children will progress wherever they are at. There are a total of 10 levels.
Do you need financial assistance? Please email Chaya for the Shabbat Club Scholarship Form. We’d like to enable Hebrew reading and language for all families!
